Today was predicted to be a scorcher so it was time to do
some exploring and head to the beach. I
started by trying to show Simon the fantastic public transport system and how
it can be nearly as efficient as catching expensive taxis… but our first bus
failed to turn up! We hoped on the next one that came along, down to Central
station, caught a train to Bondi Junction and then another bus to Bondi Beach. I was not winning a new fan for public
transport!

It was packed on the beach, who’d have thought it on the last sunny Saturday before
Christmas?! We had a quick paddle and
gawped at some of the beautiful people before starting the coastal walk to
Coogee. The views each way just kept
getting better and better, so many photos were taken. It turned out to be a
longer walk than I remembered. It took aaages,
we both had aching and tired feet by the end.
When we got to Coogee we prioritised a cold drink before heading to the
beach for a revitalising swim!
Bondi Beach looked better from a distance! |
There were plenty of other scenic bays along the route |
With the sun starting to set, it began to get cooler so we went
to change into dry clothes and headed to the Coogee Bay Hotel, apparently it’s
home to the largest bar (or series of bars more accurately) in the southern
hemisphere.
We had one drink before
grabbing a cheap but very tasty bite to eat and then enjoyed a much more
straight forward single bus trip back directly to the flat for just before 9pm! It must have been nearly Christmas as it was
time to gorge ourselves on cheese and wine.
