I took out my earplugs to enjoy the amazing morning chorus
in the surrounding bush. What a place to
wake up. There are numerous native birds
here that are very rare or even unheard of back in Pukekohe.

We tentatively made our way into the house
when I couldn’t put off the call of nature any more. Libby’s sister and nephews,
who were also visiting, were very hospitable, making us tea and coffee and
offering breakfast.
Lib’s Dad took us to
visit his beloved Buick which was a beast!
We packed up for three days away in the Golf including our
accommodation - three of us in one small tent! Then we hit the road as
soon as possible. There were some lovely
viewpoints to visit on our way and the beautiful Pupu springs which
boasts some of the clearest fresh water in the world.

We had lunch at a very nice bar in the
middle of nowhere before arriving at our camp site. It was hot and our spot lacked any form of
shade at all.
(These photos were taken the next morning when it was cool enough to be on our site!) |
So, we headed into the
small town for an early dinner, and I had a lovely walk along the beach with
Libs, viewing large flocks of oystercatchers:
