We made the effort to get moving before check-out time this
morning. But forgot that the clocks were
going forward overnight, so the time we gained was instantly lost and we left
at 11am in any case!
Today we had a long drive back towards the Pacific Coast but
made a couple of detours.
It was two
hours west to the town of Newman (right) where we also topped up on groceries
and stopped for lunch.
Simon was doing
some planning today so before you knew it we were booked in for a second
attempt at whale watching tomorrow and nearly booked in for some horse riding,
but we were too late for the riding sadly.
But we made more ground to Leguna Seca track, also known as
the Mazda raceway (left).
There were
some motorbikes going around the track.
We made our way to the corkscrew turn, during which the course drops the
equivalent of three storeys in only two corners.
Luckily, along with the race track there was
plenty of amazing bird life around to keep Becky and I enthralled.

The pit lane at Laguna Seca |
We
managed to do our usual trick at a race track and get behind the scenes into
the pit lane before making our way to the camp site adjacent to Laguna
Seca.
Well, Simon did good.
This has to be one of the best views we have
had from a camping spot.
We weren’t sure what to do for dinner but for some reason
the freezer had malfunctioned and everything was defrosting. Luckily, the only meat left in the freezer
was chicken – so…. Chicken it was for dinner!
The Barbecue went on, as well as a fire and we enjoyed the panoramic
views over chicken and chips until the sun was setting and it got a little too
fresh. Then we moved the party,
otherwise known as scrabble, inside!
