With a heavy heart, it was time to leave Bryon again, not
knowing if or when I would ever return.
We headed north, back past Brisbane, gaining our hour back. The surf injuries
to my knees have scabbed up nicely.
I shall wear them like a badge of honour!
With a tour to Fraser island booked for very early tomorrow,
our aim today was to get as close to our pick-up point as possible. But it would have been remiss to just make a
bee-line there ignoring everything else, so we took a detour to see some of the
Glasshouse Mountains. These were
named by Lieutenant James Cook (him again?!)
who thought the shape of the mountains resembled the glass furnaces of his
hometown in Yorkshire. Here’s a panoramic view, see if you agree.
The Glasshouse Mountains |
I reckon the Police have it quite easy here... |
Onwards, into Noosa where we found the closest site to the
jetty where we need to be at 615am in the morning, but it was fully booked! As a last resort, they offered us a parking
spot for tonight, literally a tarmacked space, for $30 and we could then move
onto an unpowered site tomorrow. Sold,
this was too convenient, so that’ll do for us.
Maybe we should be doing more booking ahead what with it being summer
holidays here….!
A panoramic view of Noosa Beach |
We wandered around Noosa town and the beach before heading to our parking space to make dinner and get set
up for an early night. I took a wander
to capture the sunset. There were
parrots everywhere.
