Next time I woke up it was just before 8am, not bad at all
considering! Especially since the RV was
still rocking about in strong winds.
There was no rush to do anything today and, if possible, we should avoid
driving on any highways according to the weather advisory people. Thankfully the locals of San Marcos had not
prioritised getting their tyres changed this morning so it was relatively
peaceful in our location. The weather
information said that the worst of the weather should die down after about
2pm. We needed an RV site nearby so that
we could go for our day out in Austin tomorrow instead. The PA site in Austin itself was full. The next best one was in San Marcos,
literally 5 minutes away and had spaces.
Last night really worked out well for us in the end. It’s a relief we didn’t stay at the race
circuit as we would have been on top of a hill, even more exposed to the
elements. We’d had a free night on the
most expensive night of the week and now only had to move a short distance to
our next destination.
It was a real shame about the wind today, otherwise it was a
clear blue-skied sunny day. We kept the
blinds down whilst we stayed in the car park for tea, coffee and bacon
sandwiches before some blogging and Facetiming.
We didn’t get a knock on the door from anyone at Walmart so we had
successfully negotiated our first free night care of the supermarket giant –
cheers Walmart!
Soon after 2pm we buckled ourselves in for the journey to
our next RV site. Five minutes later,
with no dramas we were there. It was my
choice of park so I can congratulate myself on a doozey! We got half price with our PA membership but
it was still $25 per night. It was good
to be back with electricity and running water (sorry Bear Grylls, we like our
basics!). The wind had subdued so I went
to have look at San Marcos River which was beautiful with some slight rapids –
too much for Steven Sea Eagle I fear:
The park has a warm indoor swimming pool and hot tub and superfast Wi-Fi
for each individual device (I told you it was good). Having done some blogging I went for a lovely
swim in the warm, salt water pool, leaving Simon cooking us dinner in the RV. A perfect evening.
