Of course, we want to preserve our RV/ investment to the
best of our abilities. But, we are
living in it, full-time, so there is bound to be a degree of wear and
tear. I had finally had enough of the
water leaks following every shower we have.
The leaks appear in slightly different places each time depending on
what angle we are parked at, to keep us on our toes. I had purchased some clear sealant (but no
sealant gun of course!) and this morning thought I would take advantage of the
shower being dry and clean to have a go at a spot of DIY. I squeezed the sealant out with my fingers
and then a pair of scissors – that’s normal practise, right? I then placed the
shower out of bounds for 24 hours (don’t worry there are shower facilities
available on the campsite) to let my little experiment dry before testing.
Today was reserved for exploring the park but how? Kayak or bike? I went for an orientation cycle to
investigate our options!
We would have to move the RV closer to a lake for a suitable launch point, plus it was an overcast day, rain looking likely at any minute. Also, there were lots of warning signs about alligators. We went for the cycling option! Which turned out to be for the best. We had a very enjoyable ride, exploring much more of the park than we would have been able to in a canoe. The ‘wild stuff’ count was also high – FOUR alligators (best yet thanks to the ‘spotter’. He's getting a bit smug though) in addition to an osprey, a couple more armadillos and a whole load of vultures.
Happy to be separated from this chap by an expanse of water! |

A mangrove in Louisiana? Or the Dagobah system from Star Wars? Didn't find a Yoda so must be the first one... |
We were out for a good couple of hours after which I cobbled
together enough dark clothing to make the most of the FREE laundry facilities
whilst I enjoyed taking a shower in a cubicle that was large enough to turn
round in! No campfire tonight, strictly
stove-cooked dinner.
Then the last Sherlock of this series. Bit of a strange one I thought, and not as
good as episode two. But will it be the
last ever? Hope Dinglebert Bumblesnatch
and co want to do another few…
