Last morning on our Montreal campsite |
We managed to reach the Newmans’ hotel for 1140am. It was lovely and sunny for Ray and Ann’s
last day of holiday. We drove to the
Olympic Park and found lots of parking spaces enabling us to take a
double-length spot for $24 right by the insectarium and botanical gardens we
aimed to visit.
First stop, the insectarium with plenty of creepy crawlies to
see… but most of them dead, sadly:

Ray braved handling one of the giant
live ones:
Despite the tempting offer of various insect-based culinary
delights, we opted to head back to the RV for lunch. Simon and I also used the opportunity to book
up the next three nights for the RV.
This was especially challenging for Simon who managed to book us a
campsite in Quebec despite a significant language barrier!
The botanical gardens were beautiful. We wandered through interlinked greenhouses (left) before wandering across to view the 1976 Olympic stadium:
Returning to see more stunning gardens containing
sculptures and water features (leading to numerous photo opportunities!), we
strolled the scenic route back to the RV.

Sadly, at 545pm it was time to head to the International
Airport where we said our farewells as we dropped the Newmans off as close to
their departure gate as possible at 630pm.
From there we drove straight to our booked site just
south-east of Montreal, arriving at 720pm. It was a PA site for only $16 and they
sold homemade pies, which was an unexpected bonus as we had nothing much left
to eat on the RV.
Back to just the two of us, the usual evening routine of dinner
followed by a photo and blogging catch-up – with some TV for the first time in
what felt like weeks.
