Thursday 19th January – The road back to Texas

The weather people were right, we awoke to torrential rain but sadly no thunder or lightning as promised!  Another good day to be on the road.  We had about four and a half hours to cover today and the flood warnings were getting too close for comfort so we shipped out at 1030am (I know, it’s not exactly EARLY!).  We past another mile(age)stone, 9000 miles done since we hit the road in October.
What better way to break up the journey than with the usual Thursday Walmart shop and gas stop?!  130pm, $240 down and we were still about 3 hours away.  We called the campsite we were heading to which was lucky as it turned out to be full.  Plan B turned out to be a blessing at only $16 a night and even closer to NASA than the other one, book in!  We re-crossed the border into Texas.  Aaaah, it’s good to be back where the gas is cheap and warm weather is guaranteed! Traffic on the outskirts of Houston at rush hour was understandably heavy, delaying our arrival at Safari RV resort until 545pm, just before the darkness caught up with us.   Time for a stir-fry and some blogging.
