Monday 6th March – Route 1 up the coast… continued

We took the opportunity to enjoy the stunning vista this morning so stayed again until check-out time at noon.

Above and below: Our view left and right from the campsite...

There were numerous sandy, deserted beaches along the coast so it would have been easy to just stop half an hour after we had started today.  Instead, we lunched by the sea in Hobson Beach Park, all of us having to admit that the dolmades were awesome but it was too late to show our appreciation to Nick the Greek who was miles behind us now.
We carried on driving up the coast, enjoying the views and having to splash out $150 on fuel costing over $3 a gallon to keep us going.  It was another beautiful day, but cool.  We weren’t quite persuaded that a dip in the Pacific was a good idea!
We got further up the coast today than we had imagined, up to Pismo Beach dunes just in time for sunset.

It was then time to get out the scrabble set to commence a championship!
