Sunday 25th December – Christmas Day

Our Christmas treat selection (note festive tablecloth)

As all Christmas mornings should be, we had a lazy one and to be honest I had a bit of a port hangover to recover from!  We had exactly what we wanted for breakfast, which for me meant pancakes and maple syrup.

I think this is meant to be Kermit as a waiter?!
We headed to the local bar on our bikes for noon.  The ‘Gators' Crossroads’ wasn’t exactly buzzing at that time but the barmaid appreciated the fact that I had made some effort by wearing my Christmas themed pug T-shirt!  We tried a local brew, ordered a couple of glasses and a portion of chilli poppers to really push the boat out before heading to a secluded table within Wi-Fi range to contact those overseas. We had mixed success but managed to speak briefly to my brother and sister and Simon’s family over the noise of the occasional truck or motorbike passing by.

The bar had laid on some snacks and opened the pool table up so that it was free.  I was on appalling form and lost the pool before also losing a round of Golden Tee golf.

In the end, we spent a few hours in the bar so by the time we got back to the RV around 3pm we were well and truly ready for Christmas dinner.  Of course, microwaving some BBQ pulled pork and cooking some chips doesn’t take that long thankfully.  Christmas afternoon was then spent feeling over-full and sleepy, so just like any other Christmas afternoon after a large lunch and a bottle of bubbly.
