Tuesday 6th December – Walking Dead day (wasn’t that yesterday?!)

If last night’s rain hadn’t been loud enough, this morning we were woken by the propane alarm at 6am!  The RV is fitted with three alarms (safety first!) – a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide alarm and the propane gas alarm.  All are piercing and sufficiently loud, as befits their job!  The problem is that they are all extremely sensitive.  Well done (not burnt) toast sets off the smoke detector but the propane alarm is the worst – deodorant, bug spray, absolutely nothing at 6am in the morning and it’s off!  You can disable the alarm temporarily by depressing a button.  (Not the only depressed thing in the RV at 6am this morning!)  Today it kept going off, it must have been extra moisture in the air from last night’s rain or something?  The only good thing was the lack of anyone else camped around us. As well as disturbing our sleep, the main issue with this alarm is that if it ever goes off for a propane leak we will think it is ‘crying wolf’ and will ignore it!  Our way of dealing with its repeated bleating this morning was to stack ever denser clothing and towels over the aperture to block out the sound.

But then it was time to get up and head to Senoia, where an entire series of the Walking Dead was filmed.  However, I managed to detour us to see the falls, as mentioned in the name of the park we were staying in.

You'll have to trust me when I say this is a red-shouldered hawk! (I have checked with a professional!)

We then headed off to find the Walking Dead locations in Senoia.  For some reason the Satnav went a bit wonky again and we ended up in a very run down area that didn't look right.  I went for a walk to find where we were.... and found the Walking dead tour shop and props museum!
These are apparently relevant signed props from the series....
Even better than that, we purchased a map showing the filming locations and at random we had found the area containing barns that were used to film some important meeting scene for the series apparently....

We moved on to our original target location... Even if you’ve never seen a single episode of the TV series I can recommend Senoia as a lovely town to visit.
There is a fenced off area next to the town which in the series is called Alexandria.  These are real houses and some of them are occupied.  They obviously get a lot of geeky fans turning up and trying to get pictures, so security was tight:
This shot is better than the one I took!

We stopped at the coffee shop on the corner which appears as the Woodbury Coffee House in the series:

What it looks like in the run up to Christmas (note the matching sign)
Following our rest stop we spent the afternoon trying to capture relevant images of areas of the town that are significant to the Walking Dead series and also visiting the gift shop where we added to our shot glass collection....
This is as close as the restraining order lets me get to Andrew Lincoln

Compare the water tower and buildings on the left in these two pics, both looking up Senoia high street.

Compare the building in the background above (from the series) and below.....

A successful day for fans and non-fans alike, we returned to our second night’s stay in High Falls park.
