Another long drive today.
We had a hotel reservation to make!
We made good ground on our old friend Interstate 95 before getting back
on the A1A coast road from Palm Beach.
As soon as we got onto the coast there were police cars and security
vans everywhere. We were passing Donald
Trump’s Palm Beach Mansion. His recent
rise in political standing meaning that no risks could be taken with his and
his family’s safety, clearly! The
properties on this section of coastline are unbelievable. It made us do some more research and we
discovered that we may have been passing the homes of the Williams sisters or
Rod Stewart that very minute! The best
mansions were set back from the road with a private beach onto the Atlantic and
then a private jetty out back in the inlet so that you have somewhere to park
your yacht. Ridiculously
exclusive.
Taking this route may have slowed us down but it was worth
it for the sea views. We arrived outside the New Yorker Boutique Hotel and
found that we could park the RV right outside what turned out to be our
room! It was very motel-like. Basic, but clean.
On our way in we had passed some nice looking
restaurants. We had agreed that, as it
was our two months on the road-iversary, we should go out for a meal to
celebrate. Plus, neither of us would
have to drive anywhere for a change so we could share a bottle of wine. We went to a lovely Italian restaurant and enjoyed a rare meal out. I’d like to
say we had a crazy late night out but after a heavy and pricey meal out we
thought we’d make the most of our hotel room instead… and by that of course I
mean use the fast internet connection to get lots of blog updating done!
